Production- Filming Day 2

After months of planning our film’s opening, we are finally getting closer to completing it. Today, my group and I met at our final filming location to shoot scenes 2 and 3. It ended up being a longer production day than usual since we had to travel to two different locations, and these scenes were more complex and time-consuming than our first scene.

Planning Our Production Day
Earlier this week, we sent the final script to our actors so they could memorize their lines and review the storyboards. Before filming, we made sure everyone knew the time, location, and schedule for the day to keep everything organized.

We did run into a minor problem when we realized we couldn’t use the camera we had originally planned. At the last minute, we asked our teacher if we could check out a different camera, and fortunately, we were able to use her Canon EOS Rebel T7. Since we had to switch cameras, we weren’t able to use the microphones we had intended, so we had to record audio separately using a recording device. This audio will need to be imported and synced during the editing process.

Despite these unexpected challenges, everything came together, and our production went smoothly. We’re happy with the progress we've made and feel confident about the footage we captured.

Shot Outcomes
While filming, we faced some challenges with stabilizing our shots since we didn’t have a tripod. This meant that a few shots had to be repeated multiple times to get them right, but overall it didn’t slow us down too much. Despite this, we were able to capture all the footage we needed, and the scenes turned out well.

Here are some pictures we took while filming:

After filming and importing all of our footage onto the computer, we reviewed the outcomes of the shots we captured.

Reflection
Although it’s a little bittersweet that filming has come to an end, we’re now ready to start editing our film. We’ll be adding important elements like color grading, sound effects, and audio adjustments to bring the scenes to life, and we’re excited to see the final product come together. Looking back, we’re relieved that we were able to overcome challenges during filming, such as switching cameras and stabilizing shots. This process gave us valuable insight into potential issues that directors and actors face during production. We’ve learned a lot, and we’re excited to apply these lessons as we move forward. Make sure to stay tuned for more updates on our editing progress!
